Rockfire Capital is a specialist investment management company, operating throughout Europe, with current assets under management approaching £500m (at September 2016).[1] The company specialises in asset-backed, structured finance and is an active investor in several sectors, including energy and real estate.[1] Rockfire differs from other investment management companies in that it always invests its own money in any product or project recommended to co-investors. Company OverviewRockfire was responsible for the design and management of the first climate bond, launched in the UK in October 2014.[2] In September 2016, the company bought a 61 megawatt solar farm in Swindon from WELink Energy Investments.[3] It is one of the largest in the UK and supplies enough clean energy to meet the power needs of 15,400 households annually.[4] The solar farm is built on land leased from the Science Museum Group, a non-departmental public body (NDPB), sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.[5] The plant has also secured a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with HSBC.[6] In April 2017, Rockfire Capital completed the acquisition of two solar farm sites in Wales.[7] Warrington, Thurrock and Newham Borough Councils have purchased bonds in Swindon Solar Park through Rockfire, making them among the first councils in the UK to invest in clean-tech bonds.[8] In the current low interest rate environment, councils are increasingly looking at alternative investments to drive returns to pay for frontline services.[8] Key PeopleLiam Kavanagh is the CEO and Founder of Rockfire Capital.[9] Andrew Williams, CFO Steve Croucher, COO [10] RegulationRockfire Capital is authorised and regulated by the FCA.[11] References1. ^1 {{Cite web|url=https://www.warrington.gov.uk/news/article/2197/council_s_bright_idea_to_boost_income|title=Council’s bright idea to boost income|last=|first=|date=15 September 2016|website=Warrington Borough Council|publisher=|access-date=27 September 2016}} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.solarpowerportal.co.uk/news/first_uk_solar_farm_bond_oversubscribed|title=First UK solar farm bond oversubscribed|website=Solar Power Portal|language=en-GB|access-date=2016-09-27}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.insidermedia.com/insider/southwest/61mw-solar-farm-changes-hands|title=61MW solar farm changes hands|last=Ltd|first=Insider Media|language=en-GB|access-date=2016-09-27}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=http://renewables.seenews.com/news/rockfire-capital-buys-60-9-mw-uk-solar-park-539624|title=Rockfire Capital buys 60.9-MW UK solar park - SeeNews Renewables|website=renewables.seenews.com|access-date=2016-09-27}} 5. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.power-technology.com/news/newsrockfire-capital-acquires-60mw-swindon-solar-park-in-uk-5005709|title=Rockfire Capital acquires 60MW Swindon Solar Park in UK|website=Power Technology|access-date=2016-10-05}} 6. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/local/14751340.Wroughton_solar_farm_changes_hands_in_major_takeover_deal/|title=Wroughton solar farm changes hands in major takeover deal|website=Swindon Advertiser|access-date=2016-09-27}} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.renewableenergymagazine.com/pv_solar/rockfire-capital-acquires-welsh-solar-farm-sites-20170424|title=PV - Rockfire Capital acquires Welsh solar farm sites - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism|last=Viaintermedia.com|work=Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism|access-date=2017-10-04|language=en}} 8. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.themj.co.uk/Solar-farm-deal-to-generate-council-cash/205361|title=Solar farm deal to generate council cash|website=www.themj.co.uk|access-date=2016-09-27}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/money/investment/article4218997.ece|title=Meet the new crowd taking on the banks {{!}} The Times|language=en-GB|access-date=2016-09-27}} 10. ^{{Cite news|url=http://finance.yahoo.com/news/moves-rockfire-capital-names-steve-100943690.html|title=MOVES-Rockfire Capital names Steve Croucher COO|access-date=2017-03-24|language=en-US}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/financial-services-register|title=Financial Services Register|last=|first=|date=29 April 2016|website=Financial Services Register|publisher=|access-date=27 September 2016}} External linkswww.rockfirecapital.com 2 : Investment management companies of the United Kingdom|Companies based in Southampton |
