It lies on the Rangpo River some {{convert|117|km}} by road south of the state capital Gangtok. Covering an area of {{convert|218.35|km}}, {{As of|2011|alt=as of the 2011 Census of India}} Rongli had 6,054 households with a total population of 27,741.
