Roukiata Ouedraogo (b. 1979) is a Burkinabe actress and comedian from Burkina Faso. Early lifeOuedraogo was born in Burkina Faso, growing up in Fada N'Gourma then in the suburbs of Ouagadougou[1] where she entered fourth grade. Her family is from Somiaga. Her father is a civil servant and his mother, a housewife, is involved in associations. Her father and brother did amateur theater. The former became a close friend of actor Sotigui Kouyaté. She believes that their death played a role in her own desire to do theater. Her interest in fashion came from her mother. During her youth, she worked as a hairdresser and began to design fashion.[2] In 2000, she earned her baccalaureate.[3] CareerShe moved to Paris at age 20 with the objective of studying fashion design.[4] She lives with her brother, who arrived in France before her. A guidance counselor discouraged her, claiming that she does not have the financial means and that she should do social work instead. She obtained her BAFA and became an educator in summer camps.[5] Later, she began a modeling career after she was spotted on a street, especially for the Nivea brand. She also works as a dancer. She enrolled in a makeup school and then worked for twelve years for the cinema or for cosmetics brands, including Black Up and Make-up Art Cosmetics. In 2007, she took an internship at Cours Florent before she considered the theater as a career. At the end of this internship, she joined the second year of this school, with Fabienne Luketti and Georges Bécot as teachers. She continued to work as a makeup artist to finance her studies. At the end of her studies in 2008, she starred in the play Yennenga, the Mossé epic, first at the school and then at the Théâtre de la Passerelle in Paris. The play toured across Europe. She performed in Ouagadougou in September 2010 at the Gambidi cultural space, in the presence of national television and the Minister of Culture of Burkina Faso. In December 2010, the latter invited the actress to perform in front of African heads of state.[6] In 2013, she created a one-woman-show called Ouagadougou Hurry, about herself and immigration. She appeared in various French Institutes in West Africa and then in France in 2015.[7] She participates in the show Le Parlement du rire on Canal +. In 2015, she created her third show, Roukiata Mask, at the Théâtre du Point-Virgule, in which she tackled the cultural differences between Africa and France, as well as serious subjects such as female genital mutilation.. In April 2017, she began hosting Si tu écoutes j'annule tout on France Inter and continued during the following season when the show was renamed Par Jupiter! Theater
