{{short description|Associate professor of Computer Science at Columbia University}}Roxana Geambasu is an associate professor of Computer Science at Columbia University.^[1] Geambasu received her Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Washington.^[2] Her research spans areas of computer systems, including distributed systems, security and privacy, operating systems, databases, and applications of cryptography and machine learning to systems.^[3]

Her team found evidence that an advertising tool used by Gmail until November 2014 targeted ads based on sensitive personal information—something its policies, both those in place in 2014 and those in place now, say it does not do.^[4]
