HistoryChris Fox is a former member of the New Brunswick, New Jersey band Boxed Wine, who are called "exuberant pop-rock." They released two singles, two EPs and a full length album.{{sfn|Sawdey|2017}} When Boxed Wine disbanded, Fox began by writing folk songs, and in 2015 Fox was joined by drummer James Janocha of Twin Berlin and bassist FC Spies to reinterpret his compositions as rock anthems, and formed the indie rock group Ruby Bones.{{sfn|Colburn|2016}}{{sfn|Basileo|2017}} They are noted as being a "formidable pop-rock engine" and Evan Sawdey of PopMatters compares them to the Stooges, the Velvet Underground and the Strokes.{{sfn|Mehalick|2017}}{{sfn|Sawdey|2017}} The group describe themselves as "Bruce Springsteen on cocaine after a few drags off a helium balloon."{{sfn|Colburn|2016}} Their self-titled album was released on 12 May 2017, and it charted on the Billboard Heatseeker Middle Atlantic Chart at No. 7.{{sfn|WRAT Staff|2017}} It also was No. 16 on the Most Added NACC radio charts, and peaked at No. 175 on the Top 200.{{sfn|Frometa|2017}} Regarding their self-titled album, Fox explains that it "is part love story, part dealing with the fact that technology and cell phones are so ubiquitous that it's making it harder to make real connection with someone," and continues by saying "people are addicted to this never-ending feed of information."{{sfn|Jordan|2018}} Their video for the single "Gone Gone Gone" features actors Ryan Christian and Natalie Stevens.{{sfn|Frometa|2017}} Mike Mehalick of Speak Into My Good Eye describes their second single, "Heart of Darkness", as a combined "sense of New Jersey-based urgency with no wasted energy," and J.P Basileo of Impose says "the song itself is something eerily catchy, charming in a siren-like kind of way[;] the constant roll of a snare drum infuses enough tension and urgency to bolster [his] generous vocal range, entirely on its own, even when guitars have cut out."{{sfn|Mehalick|2017}}{{sfn|Basileo|2017}} The music video pays homage to the film Weekend at Bernie's.{{sfn|WRAT Staff|2017}} Mint 400 RecordsIn 2018, Ruby Bones signed with Mint 400 Records, and they released the three-track EP Laser on 2 November 2018. The band commenting on the EPs single "Not Enough," say it "is about one side of a couple never being able to meet the needs of the other, no matter how hard they might try."{{sfn|Shrum|2018}} Members
