It opened on 5 February 1934.[5] In 2014, the student enrolment was 942 with 61 teachers (52 full-time equivalent).[6] Mackay Northern Beaches State High School was opened in Rosewood Drive on 1 January 2013[5] and is one of the newest high schools in Queensland. In 2014, the student enrolment was 390 with 37 teachers (35 equivalent full-time).[7] They have a range of new technologies and resources of the 21st century.
