The series was created by director Rawson Marshall Thurber who was set to executive produce alongside Scott Stuber, Beau Bauman, Krysia Plonka and Tracey Baird. Ryan Hansen was expected to serve as a producer.[2] On July 27, 2018, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season expected to premiere in 2019.[3] On December 17, 2018, it was announced that season two would premiere on January 30, 2019.[4] CastingAlongside the series order announcement, it was confirmed that the series would star Ryan Hansen with guest stars including Joel McHale, Jon Cryer, and Kristen Bell, among others.[2] FilmingPrincipal photography for season two began on July 26, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.[5] ReleaseOn December 17, 2018, a trailer for the second season was released.[4] ReceptionRyan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television has received mixed reviews from critics at launch. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating to reviews, the series has a weighted average score of 56 out of 100, based on 5 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[6] Mike Hale of The New York Times said in a mixed review, "Solves Crimes has potential, but its problem is hard-wired into its premise and its venue: You wish that someone more interesting to watch than Mr. Hansen were at the center of it. There’s no compelling reason to watch, but you might get a kick out of it."[7] Dan Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter commented that the show is "bloated and sloppy and amateurish in a way that occasionally rises to the level of 'gleeful,' but it's occasionally hilarious and delivers a much more scathing, granular and detailed satire of the television business and Hollywood fame than the facile yuks of Showtime's departed, overpraised Episodes."[8]References1. ^{{cite web|last1=Moraes|first1=Lisa de|title=‘Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes On Television’ Pokes Fun At Dick Wolf Procedurals, Creator Says|url=http://deadline.com/2017/08/ryan-hansen-solved-crimes-on-television-mocks-dick-wolf-cop-dramas-youtube-red-tca-1202142702/|website=Deadline Hollywood|accessdate=December 21, 2017|date=August 4, 2017}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|last1=Petski|first1=Denise|title=YouTube Red Greenlights Two New Comedy Series Toplined By Ryan Hansen & Rob Huebel|url=http://deadline.com/2017/06/youtube-red-comedy-series-ryan-hansen-rob-huebel-kristen-bell-joel-mchale-jon-cryer-1202118510/|website=Deadline Hollywood|accessdate=December 21, 2017|date=June 22, 2017}} 3. ^{{cite web |last1=Nakamura |first1=Reid |title=Ryan Hansen's YouTube Comedy Renewed for Season 2 |url=https://www.thewrap.com/ryan-hansen-youtube-comedy-renewed-for-season-2/ |website=TheWrap |accessdate=July 27, 2018 |date=July 27, 2018}} 4. ^1 {{cite web |last1=Keene |first1=Allison |title='Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television' Returns with Season 2 Trailer |url=http://collider.com/ryan-hansen-solves-crimes-on-television-season-2-trailer/ |website=Collider |accessdate=December 17, 2018 |date=December 17, 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web |title=Thursday, July 26 Filming Locations for John Wick 3, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, & more! - On Location Vacations |url=https://onlocationvacations.com/2018/07/25/thursday-july-26-filming-locations-for-john-wick-3-once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood-more/ |website=On Location Vacations |accessdate=July 27, 2018 |date=July 25, 2018}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television: Season 1 - Metacritic|url=http://www.metacritic.com/tv/ryan-hansen-solves-crimes-on-television|website=Metacritic|accessdate=December 21, 2017}} 7. ^{{cite web|last1=Hale|first1=Mike|title=Review: On YouTube, ‘Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television’|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/24/arts/television/ryan-hansen-solves-crimes-youtube-red-review.html?_r=0|website=The New York Times|accessdate=December 21, 2017|date=October 24, 2017}} 8. ^{{cite web |last1=Fienberg |first1=Daniel |title='Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television': TV Review |url=https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/ryan-hansen-solves-crimes-television-review-1051601 |website=The Hollywood Reporter |accessdate=July 27, 2018 |language=en |date=October 25, 2017}} External links
