CareerNelson attended and graduated from Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada. As a senior, he batted .412 with four home runs and 22 RBIs along with pitching to a 6-1 record with a 2.03 ERA.[1] Undrafted out of high school in the 2016 MLB draft, he enrolled at the University of Oregon to play college baseball for the Oregon Ducks.
