Kate Gale wrote the original English prose libretto which was translated into Spanish by Alicia Partnoy. Commissioned by the Florentine Opera Company, the work premiered in October 22, 2010 in a production starring soprano Kerry Walsh and tenor John Duykers. The original cast recorded the opera for Albany Records in 2010. The opera is set in an unnamed South American country with a story centering on political intrigue and family tragedy. The role of its main character, Christian Delacruz, the country's newly elected president, was sung by Guido LeBron.[1] References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.operanews.com/Opera_News_Magazine/2012/7/Recordings/DAVIS__R%C3%ADo_de_Sangre.html|title=DAVIS: Río de Sangre|work=Opera News|date=July 2012|author=Joshua Rosenblum|volume=77|number=1}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Rio de Sangre}}{{opera-stub}} 7 : 2010 operas|Culture of Milwaukee|Operas|Operas by Don Davis (composer)|Operas set in South America|Political music|Spanish-language operas |
