释义 |
Saint Sebastian is a c. 1657 oil on canvas painting of saint Sebastian by Mattia Preti, now in the National Museum of Capodimonte in Naples. It was painted for the nuns of the church of {{ill|San Sebastiano, Naples|it|Chiesa di San Sebastiano (Napoli)}} during Preti's first stay in Naples, showing how heavily he was influenced by Caravaggio at that time. It was not well-received and was finally moved to a private family chapel in Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori, another church in Naples. There it remained until 1974, when it was moved to its present home for security reasons.
