}} }} Samuel Dossou-Aworet (born in Porto-Novo - Bénin on November 5th 1944) is a Pan-African businessman. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Poitier, an engineering degree from the IFP | as well as a degree of in-Depth Studies in Petrochemistry and Industrial Organic Synthesis from the ESIPSOI 1971. Early lifeConsultingFrom 1973 to 1974, he was consulting engineer with Sema Metra International in Paris. Governor of OPECFrom 1976 to 1980, he also took on a position as Governor of OPEC Special Fund. In 1978, he became Gabon's Director General of Hydrocarbons, a position which he held until 1991. While he was Director General of Hydrocarbons, Samuel Dossou-Aworet also held the position of Gabon's National Representative to the African Petroleum Producers Association (APPA), from 1988 to 1992. Gabonese administrationFrom 1974 to 1977 he became an advisor to Gabon's minister of Mines, Energy and Petroleum. From 1991 to 1992, he held the position of Gabon's General Commissioner for the Inspection and Control of Hydrocarbons and Mines. Current ActivitiesOil and Gas in AfricaIn 1992, Samuel Dossou-Aworet founded Petrolin Group in London, a group of which currently has its headquarters in Geneva Switzerland since 1993 and of which he holds the position of Chairman. He also holds the position of Chairman of ND Western Limited. In addition, he is a Member of the Board of Director of CCA (Corporate Council on Africa). InfrastructureThrough his infrastructure affiliate, Samuel Dossou-Aworet has been promoting the "Epine Dorsale" or Backbone Project, a major project in west Africa. This integrated project is self funded and involves the construction of dry ports, a deep sea port, the rehabilitation and extension of a railway and an international Airport. Business AssociationsNotable business associations of Mr Samuel Dossou-Aworet include being the President of the African Business Round Table (ABR), President of ABR International Chapter and Founding member of the Geneva Petroleum Club. Humanitarian ActivitiesIn the quality of Founding Chairman of Foundation Espace Afrique, Geneva, Mr Samuel Dossou-Aworet has built a network of foundations across Africa in Gabon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, South Africa, Benin with the aim to promote African values.
