Sanjay Gangwani ({{lang-ur|{{nq|سنجے گنگوانی}}}}) is a Pakistani politician who was elected member for the Provincial Assembly of Sindh and a close associate of Imran khan. He is the son of a technocrat, Dr.Engr.M.P Gangwani, who served as the Chairman of SCCP[5], President of (FEISCA) Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia,[6], President of IEP (Institution of Engineers Pakistan), Board of Director at World Federation of Engineering Organizations, Chairman(SAARC)South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, Board of Director at Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and Convener of Pakistan Engineering Council. Dr. Engr. M.P. Gangwani was a highly decorated officer and known as the man of crisis in the government of Pakistan and rose to be the highest Non-Muslim in the Civil Service of Pakistan, retired on grade 22. [7].

Political career

He was elected to Provincial Assembly of Sindh on a reserved seat for minorities in Pakistani general election, 2018 representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf[8]. He started his political Career in 2008 and later on the influence of Ali Haider Zaidi joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2011. He consider Ali Haider Zaidi and Arif Alvi his political mentors. Sanjay Gangwani is a Medical Doctor by profession, studied at Dow Medical College from where he has received his Bachelors of Surgery and Bachelors of Medicine degree [9]. He has been continuously working for the rights of minorities in Pakistan and decided to join PTI Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in order to serve the nation and his people. [10]. Sanjay Gangwani along with a large number of Hindu community members, rights activists and parliamentarians of opposition parties gathered outside the Karachi Press Club to express their anger at the alleged ‘forced conversions’ of Hindu girls in the province and reiterated their demand of the Sindh government to resurrect and pass the bill criminalizing forced religious conversions and subsequent forced marriages. [11].Sanjay Gangwani has been visiting interiors to check the medical facilities for the poor and needy. Recently along with other members of PTI delegation arrived in Tharparkar on a two-day exploratory visit. They visited different sections of Civil Hospitals at Umerkot,Chachro and Mithi , and inquired about the health of the admitted children and other patients and distributed relief material. They also discussed the issues of patient care, state of medical equipment and medicine supply with the medical superintendent and other doctors.[12]

Sanjay Gangwani believes patriotism is the key to protect the motherland.[13]

Personal Life

Sanjay Gangwani is a Medical Doctor by profession, studied at Dow Medical College from where he has received his Bachelors of Surgery and Bachelors of Medicine degree. He later went to the United Kingdom for his certification of (MRCS) Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. After coming back to Karachi he also joined Dr. Ruth Pfau Hospital. He is married and has two children.[14]. His father Dr. Engr. M.P. Gangwani was the Founder and President of Pakistan Hindu Council. Dr. Sanjay Gangwani is been an active member of Pakistan Hindu Council. [15]. Gangwani family is one of the most highly respectable and educated families in Pakistan. Even his Grand father Deewan Parmanand Gangwani was a Barrister who graduated from Bombay University in 1946 and was a class mate of Ram Jethmalani and L. K. Advani in Shikarpur, Sind. He has two brothers, Rakesh Gangwani and Jitesh Gangwani, both are settled in the United States of America. He is a member of prestigious clubs such as Karachi Gymkhana, DA Creek Club, DA Karachi Golf Club and Sind Club. He is also serving as the Director of International affairs and services at Rotary International Karachi.
