EducationSarah received her BA in Experimental and Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge in 2005. She then went on to complete a PhD in Radiation Physics at University College London in 2008, developing novel instrumentation for identification of cancer in breast biopsy samples using X-ray diffraction methods.[2][3] Career and researchFollowing completion of her PhD, Sarah moved to the University of Cambridge where she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, supervised by Prof. Kevin Brindle.[3] Her research during this period focused on the use of novel magnetic resonance imaging methods for the early detection of treatment response in cancer. In 2011, Bohndiek took the position of Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University's Department of Radiology, supervised by Prof. Sam Gambhir.[3] In October 2013, Bohndiek returned to the University of Cambridge as a fellow of Corpus Christi College, working as a lecturer at the Cavendish Laboratory.[3] Bohndiek actively promotes science as a career, working with the Stemettes, MentorSET and engaging with media and public outreach.[4][5] Awards and honoursBohndiek was awarded the 2014 WISE Research Award sponsored by the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Wellcome Trust.[6][7] This award is given for groundbreaking scientific research by a female-led team.[8] In 2014 Sarah also received the Paterson medal,[9] which is awarded by the Institute of Physics for early career contributions to the application of physics in an industrial or commercial context.[10] She received this award for her work in developing molecular imaging techniques, which can be applied to study the response of tissue to different cancer treatments.[11] Recognising her commitment to teaching and mentoring, Bohndiek was also awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Prize for Nurturing Research Talent [12][13] and a Suffrage Science Heirloom by the Medical Research Council.[14][15][16] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.iop.org/activity/groups/subject/med/committee/committee_biographies/page_62394.html|title=Committee Biographies|last=Physics|first=Institute of|website=www.iop.org|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-08-13}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Bohndiek, Sarah}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.bohndieklab.org/people/entry/dr-sarah-bohndiek/|title=Sarah Bohndiek {{!}} Vision Lab|website=www.bohndieklab.org|language=en|access-date=2018-08-13}} 3. ^1 2 3 {{Cite web|url=https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Sarah_Bohndiek|title=Sarah Elizabeth Bohndiek {{!}} BA, MA, PhD {{!}} University of Cambridge, Cambridge {{!}} Cam {{!}} Department of Physics: Cavendish Laboratory|last=BA|first=Sarah Elizabeth BohndiekUniversity of Cambridge {{!}} Cam · Department of Physics: Cavendish Laboratory 36 06 ·|last2=MA|website=ResearchGate|language=en|access-date=2018-08-13|last3=PhD}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/confs/cuwip2015/speakers.html|title=CUWiP 2015 Oxford, UK - speakers|website=www.physics.ox.ac.uk|accessdate=14 August 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://stemettes.org/blog/tag/dr-sarah-bohndiek/|title=Dr Sarah Bohndiek Archives - Stemettes|website=Stemettes|accessdate=14 August 2018}} 6. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.cruk.cam.ac.uk/2014/12/03/sarah-bohndiek-wins-the-the-2014-wise-research-award|title=Sarah Bohndiek wins the 2014 WISE Research Award|date=2014-12-03|work=Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute|access-date=2018-08-13|language=en-GB}} 7. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.phy.cam.ac.uk/news/dr-sarah-bohndiek-awarded-the-2014-wise-research-award|title=Dr Sarah Bohndiek awarded the 2014 WISE Research Award — Department of Physics|last=214b3378fafd402aa5c9ab982830cc07|website=www.phy.cam.ac.uk|language=en|access-date=2018-08-13}} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.wisecampaign.org.uk/2014-wise-awards-in-association-with-bloomberg/|title=2014 WISE Awards in association with Bloomberg - Welcome to the WISE Campaign|work=Welcome to the WISE Campaign|access-date=2018-08-13|language=en-US}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.iop.org/about/awards/early-career/paterson/medallists/page_38669.html|title=Paterson medal recipients|last=Physics|first=Institute of|website=www.iop.org|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-08-13}} 10. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.iop.org/about/awards/early-career/paterson/page_38665.html|title=Clifford Paterson Medal and Prize|last=Physics|first=Institute of|website=www.iop.org|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-08-13}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.iop.org/about/awards/early-career/paterson/medallists/page_63434.html|title=2014 Paterson medal and prize|last=Physics|first=Institute of|website=www.iop.org|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-08-13}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/en/news/msca-prize-2014-here-are-winners|title=MSCA Prize 2014: Here are the winners!
