A senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama in 2009 and 2010, and head speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama from 2010 to 2017,[1][2] she was appointed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council by Barack Obama after leaving the White House.[3] Hurwitz is from Wayland, Massachusetts. She attended Harvard University and Harvard Law School, and began her career as an intern in Vice President's Al Gore' Hurwitz wrote Hillary Clinton's 2008 concession speech. She was offered a job as a member of Obama's presidential campaign team days after Clinton delivered the speech.
