Sarah Moyle (born 14 September 1969) is an English stage and television actor, who is best known for her starring roles as Valerie Pitman[1] in hit BBC One drama series Doctors (BBC TV series) and Kimberley[2] in Extras (TV series).

Personal life

Moyle lives with her partner, actor Adrian Grove.

Early career and theatre

Moyle trained at Bodywork Dance Studios, Cambridge  , has a B.A. in Performance Art from Middlesex University, and studied for six months at State University of New York at Brockport. From 1988 to 1991 Moyle was a member of National Youth Theatre alongside long-time friend James Barriscale, and she once escorted Prince Edward to a National Youth Theatre ball. Moyle began her career in 1992 with roles in theatre,[3] her first being in the musical Lust at Theatre Royal Haymarket, directed by Bob Carlton.

In the early part of her career, Moyle also played roles in J. B. Priestley's An Inspector Calls, Oliver!, Les Misérables (musical) and My Fair Lady. Moyle's stage career spans over two decades and includes numerous and diverse roles, including parts in Drowning on Dry Land (play) and Private Fears in Public Places[4] written for her by Sir Alan Ayckbourn. More recently, in 2010, Moyle played the role of Linda Fawcett in Jerusalem[5] at Royal Court Theatre[6] and Apollo Theatre before taking it to Broadway, performing at Music Box Theatre.[7]

Television and film

Moyle's first television role was in cult 1990s' series The Brittas Empire, in which she played Carole Parkinson's double. Moyle has played the regular role of Valerie Pitman in BBC One drama Doctors since 2012, and In 2015 she played Ruth[10] in The Gunman (film) alongside Sean Penn, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone and Mark Rylance. Further credits include Mount Pleasant (TV series), WPC 56, and Extras (TV series).

Moyle wrote The Wager,[12] an episode of Doctors (BBC TV series), which was aired on 31 May 2018.

Nominations

Moyle has been nominated for Best Comedy Performance at The British Soap Awards three times, as well as one nomination for Best Female Dramatic Performance[13]

Charity work

In September 2018, Moyle will cycle across Rwanda to raise money and awareness for Hope and Homes for Children. Moyle is also an advocate for the Alzheimer's Society, and ran the 2000 London Marathon to raise money for the charity.
