The United Sarawak Party ({{lang-ms|Parti Sarawak Bersatu}}, abbreviated PSB) is a multi-racial political party based in the state of Sarawak.

PSB was founded as United People's Party (UPP) in 2014 at Sarawak with its headquarters based at Kuching.[1][2] The PSB as a newly formed political party was pro-Barisan Nasional (BN), and is a splinter party from Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) set-up by Second Finance Minister for Sarawak Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and his supporters following a leadership tussle.[2] However the hopes that the UPP would join BN were rejected by it's leadership.[3] UPP rejected Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom’s suggestion that UPP should dissolve to pave the way for its members to join other Barisan Nasional component parties arguing that they have over 26 full-fledged branches with 30,000 members and that UPP was able to raise RM38 million (US $9.3 million) for an education fund in less than a fortnight. [4] UPP's ability to raise significant funds is widely attributed to the support they enjoy from Sarawak's powerful timber tycoons. [5]

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was made between UPP and SUPP of Barisan Nasional for the division of seats to be contested in the 2016 Sarawak state election which saw UPP win five out of seven seats it was allocated.[6] UPP cancelled the memorandum of understanding with SUPP after the 2016 state election. [7]

Following the 14th General Election, the state government coalition without UPP exited Barisan Nasional and re-branded themselves as the new Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.

After the resignation of Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif and Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinud, UPP successfully lobbied for Tan Sri' Richard Malanjum, then the Chief Justice of East Malaysia to be appointed as the new Chief Justice of Malaysia. UPP argued that Sabahans and Sarawakians would question the impartiality of judicial appointments under the new administration if Malanjum was bypassed for the nation's top judicial post.[8]

UPP secretary general George Lo publicly condemned the suggestion by Sarawak's Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing that the state government use all its RM 31 billion (US $7.5 billion) reserves before the 2021 Sarawak state election, stating that the reserves belong to the people of Sarawak and not to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) or any political party. Lo added that the state’s financial rating in the international community will be damaged if Masing's suggestions were entertained. “Any politician, whether he be from GPS or PH (Pakatan Harapan) or BN (Barisan Nasional), who thinks he can spend away our children’s future is destined to lose the next state election,” Lo stated. [9]

UPP was re branded to Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), after delegates of its extraordinary delegates conference (EDC) on 8 December 2018 unanimously voted to amend the party’s constitution and the Registrar of Societies (RoS) had approved the name change as well as the party’s new logo in 2019.[10] PSB opted to maintain its status quo as an independent party providing supply and confidence to the GPS coalition.
