It was released on June 30, 2011 in Japan, and on December 16, 2011 for Steam[2] (December 20, 2011 for other retailers) as a part of Capcom-Nyu Media localization partnership to bring Japanese games to North America and Europe.[3] GameplayIn Satazius, the player controls a ship that can be customized between each level or after each Game Over.[4] There are four slots that can be changed: a primary weapon, a charge beam and two secondary weapons (with only one of those that can be active at a time). As the player blasts his way through a level, a special meter fills. Once the charge meter is full, a special attack can be unleashed.[5] Each of the stages in Stazius leaves the player free to explore different routes with varied difficulty depending on the gear. They also have their own rules and challenges: for example, in a cavern where the ship the player controls is flying ahead of a battleship in a narrow space, in a volcano the screen will begin scrolling slowly to the right where the player needs to avoid the lava on the left. Each time a stage is cleared, new equipment is unlocked that can be used. Practice mode is also available that lets you choose a starting stage from among those you have previously completed. There are two modes: Practice mode, which allows for a player to choose a starting stage from those that were previously completed, and a default Normal mode.[6] Gradius is a possible inspiration to Satazius, given the fact the metallic art style, ship's (Vic Viper) design and weapon select screen seem like they are inspired by it, with the font style reminding players of the early 90s. It also borrows the checkpoint system and the fact a life is lost if any part of the environment is touched.[7]References1. ^{{cite web|title=Satazius |url=http://www.interq.or.jp/saturn/takuhama/sata.html |website=Interq|accessdate=December 29, 2018}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=New Release - Satazius |url=https://steamcommunity.com/news/post/775975126274837565/ |website=Steam|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=December 16, 2011}} 3. ^{{cite web |last=Mallory|first=Jordan|title=Capcom bringing Japanese indie games west via new partnership |url=https://www.engadget.com/2011/12/10/capcom-bringing-japanese-indie-games-west-via-new-partnership/ |website=Engadget|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=December 10, 2011}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Satazius Review (PC)|url=https://www.ricedigital.co.uk/satazius-review/|website=Rice Digital|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=December 17, 2012}} 5. ^{{cite web|last=Kalata|first=Kurt|title=Satazius|url=http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/satazius/ |website=Hardcore Gaming 101|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=June 12, 2011}} 6. ^{{cite web|last=Venter|first=Jason|title=SATAZIUS Review|url=https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/satazius-review/1900-6347880/ |website=Gamespot|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=December 19, 2011}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Satazius Playtest: Trying To Find Its True Self|url=http://www.siliconera.com/2011/12/22/satazius-playtest-trying-to-find-its-true-self/ |website=Siliconera|accessdate=December 29, 2018|date=December 22, 2011}} External links
