释义 |
Selu: Seeking the Corn-Mother's Wisdom is a book by Marilou Awiakta. It uses poems, essays, and drawings to explore themes of unity and diversity.[1] Awiakta uses the Cherokee story of corn as a "compass-story" to keep readers oriented throughout her lessons. The book draws on Cherokee storytelling traditions, the Appalachian landscape, and observations of contemporary society to provide "tribal-specific, decolonizing lessons".[2] She also uses the book to explore connections between her Celtic, Scots-Irish, and Cherokee heritage.[3] BasketweavingAwiakta draws on Cherokee basket double-weaving traditions throughout the book. "Awiakta weaves together multiple genres, time periods, and voices to mimic the process of traditional basketweaving in her book's structure."[4] AdaptationsSelu was later adapted into a Grammy-nominated audio recording.[5]References1. ^{{cite book|last1=Basinger|first1=James David|title=Weaving Accessibility and Art in Marilou Awiakta's Selu: Seeking the Corn-Mother's Wisdom (MA Thesis)|date=2001|page=4|url=http://dc.etsu.edu/etd/109/|accessdate=8 May 2017|language=en |publisher=East Tennessee State University}} 2. ^{{cite book|last1=Cornell|first1=Caleigh|title=Re-Weaving A Decolonized South In Contemporary Cherokee Women's Poetry (MA Thesis)|date=2014|page=29|url=http://hdl.handle.net/10211.3/121878|accessdate=8 May 2017|language=English | publisher=San Diego State University}} 3. ^{{cite journal|last1=Shurbutt|first1=S.
