The studio is noted for producing a variety of projects, directly in relation with Johnson's film slate. Hiram Garcia currently serves as President of the company overseeing production on each of the studio's projects. The studio has experienced success critically and financially with each of its releases.[2] Foundation & establishmentDwayne and Dany formed the studio in 2012, following a rise in the popularity of the former's acting career. The studio is reportedly named after an event in Johnson's earlier life, when he had to leave his football career and had "only seven bucks" in his pocket. Johnson was raised by his mother in Hawaii. During his early life there were significant financial hardships within his home. After signing a contact with the Canadian Football League (CFL), and subsequently being dropped due to "not [being] good enough", he struggled with depression and a lack of direction. Johnson was later integrated into the film industry following a successful career with the WWE. After being raised within a home with financial struggles, Johnson made a personal decision that he could succeed, and he would succeed. Following some mixed financial and critical reception to his early acting career, he severed ways with his previous acting agency Creative Artists Agency (CCA), and began to work with William Morris Endeavor (WME). The Rock decided that he would live and accomplish his goals and dreams, taking on greater involvement in the films he was cast in. His box office successes eventually lead to a producing role in the films he made. In a joint-venture, Johnson formed his film studio with his ex-wife, Dany Garcia. The business partners settled on a name, referring to the amount of cash that Johnson had in his pocket after being dropped from the CFL. In the thick of his financial success, he has credited his business partner, Dany with playing a large role in his career.[3] Johnson has become an A-list actor, with multiple film projects in development at a time. Critics have also compared him to '90s action movie stars; with one specifically stating that Johnson has the wit of Bruce Willis, the strength of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the heart of Sylvester Stallone. The filmmaker has since stated that being fired from the CFL, was the best thing that ever happened to him, stating that it has directed his life to the immense popularity and stardom. He believes that, "Life is what you make it" and enjoys the relationship he has developed with fans stating that there is a level of trust in what kind of film his movies will be, when they enter theaters. He acknowledges his loyal fan base as his greatest support.[4][5] Hiram Garcia, was hired to act as the President of the company overseeing production output.
