Shaandaar ({{lit|Resplendent}}) is a 1974 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Krishnan–Panju. It is a remake of the 1971 Kannada film Kasturi Nivasa. The film stars Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore and Vinod Mehra.

Plot

Rajan is a wealthy widower living alone in a mansion named "Lakshmi Bhavan" after the death of his daughter. He runs a very successful match factory called Kabutar (Dove). Rajan meets a woman named Pratima, her husband Chander, and their daughter Rani, who reminds of his own deceased daughter. He decides to indirectly assist Chander in his own business venture which includes running a match factory called Eagle. Chander's business flourishes in such a way that results in Rajan losing all his customers, forcing him to declare bankruptcy. Lakshmi Bhavan is sold to Chander for {{INRConvert|25|l|year=1974}}, and Rajan moves to the outhouse. Chander soon takes to drinking and having lavish parties with dancing girls. This does not please Rajan, since he had always treated Lakshmi Bhavam as a holy place. Rajan decides to ask Chander to stop, not realising that in so doing he will initiate a series of events that will change their lives.
