It is located on the Queiq Plain, {{convert|10|km|mi}} northeast of Azaz, some {{cvt|45|km|mi}} north of the city of Aleppo, and less than {{cvt|1|km|mi}} south of the border to the Turkish province of Kilis. The village administratively belongs to Nahiya Azaz in Azaz District. Nearby localities include Shamarikh {{cvt|1.5|km|mi}} to the south and Tulayl ash-Sham {{cvt|2|km|mi}} to the southwest. In the 2004 census, Shamarin had a population of 506.
