Worldwide, Shizuka is best known for having been the permanent vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Shizuka, which she founded with musician Maki Miura, her then-husband.[4][5] In about 1992, Shizuka started her musical career by adapting some of her poetry into songs.[6] Her earliest known musical performance was at former Tokyo live venue 20000V on 21 November 1992. It was posteriorly released in a C54 self-titled compact cassette with a total of five tracks.[7] Other three cassette tapes were also released under the title "{{Nihongo2|静香}}" (Shizuka), most of them had portraits of Shizuka as their cover art.[8][9][10] With the band, she has worked on the release of a studio album,[11] three live albums,[13][14][15] and three video albums,[16][17][18] besides having played a number of live performances in Japan and in the United States.[4][20][21] Musically, her vocals were often ethereal, reverberated, slow and tremulous, characteristics which expressed or suggested, among other things, sadness, and a "haunting", "gothic atmosthere".[20][24] On circa 31 January 2010, she died.
