She was featured on Okmalumkoolkat's "Ngiyashisa Bhe" and "Gqi", as well as on DJ Maphorisa's "Probleme".[2][3] Wegerif released her debut album Limpopo Champions League in December 2018; it features guest appearances from Kwesta, pH, Makwa and Ycee.[4] Early lifeWegerif was born in Limpopo, South Africa, to a white father and black Tsonga mother. Her stage name was inspired by Vivian Majozi, a fictional character on a long-running local soap.[5][6] As a teenager, Wegerif spent several years living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. After finishing secondary school, she left for South Hadley, Massachusetts, United States to study African Studies and Creative Writing at Mount Holyoke College. Following this, she returned to South Africa and took up a fellowship in writing at the University of Johannesburg.[7] Wegerif has a younger half-sister. Music and careerWegerif's early work was mostly spoken word, written under the alias MayaThePoet.[8] Race, identity and politics play a common theme throughout her work, such as in her spoken word poem Sometimes it Pours.[9][10] After her return from the United States, Wegerif started rapping under the alias Sho Madjozi, in collaboration with Okmalumkoolkat, most significantly being featured in the track Ngiyashisa Bhe and the hit single Gqi.[8][2] She is significant for choosing to rap in Xitsonga, and states that it is important to her to remain true to the language.[7][3] 2017, Sho Madjozi featured with Rouge & Moozlie on "Ay Baby" by MsCosmo.[11] Her fashion is an important element of her work, with her colourful and vibrant outfits matching the carefree style of her rapping.[7] Madjozi achieved international exposure by her performance of "Wakanda Forever" with rapper YCEE at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 2, 2018.[12] As well as her work within the music industry, Wegerif also acts in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.[8] Personal lifeWegerif currently lives in Johannesburg.[7] Discography
