While McCarthy was held by Hezbollah, along with Irish hostage Brian Keenan,[2] he was unaware of the campaign being run by Morrell to keep his name in the public eye and help secure his release; only after his release did he discover that she had formed the "Friends of John McCarthy". Some Other Rainbow is often compared with Keenan's memoir, An Evil Cradling, published a year earlier.[3] The book topped the Independent on Sunday's bestseller list for autobiography[4] and made the couple enough to live on for a time.[1] The couple split up in 1995, McCarthy later wrote another memoir, A Ghost Upon Your Path (2002), dealing with later experiences.[5] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/book-review-touched-by-the-tears-of-a-clown-some-other-rainbow-john-mccarthy-and-jill-morrell-bantam-1455969.html|title=BOOK REVIEW / Touched by the tears of a clown: 'Some Other Rainbow' - John McCarthy and Jill Morrell|author=Sebastian Faulks|website=The Independent|date=17 April 1993|access-date=5 May 2017}} 2. ^Ranstorp, Magnus, Hizb'allah in Lebanon: The Politics of the Western Hostage Crisis, New York, St. Martins Press, 1997 3. ^{{cite book|author=Elizabeth K.
