Faldo was born in London, and grew up in Suffolk. She studied psychology at the University of Manchester and Toulouse.[1] She joined the Royal Artillery and has served in Afghanistan. After leaving the Army, she worked as a personal trainer, taught military boot camps, and was training to be a stuntwoman when she was convinced by her chef boyfriend to apply for The Great British Bake Off.[2] Faldo won the competition, but her victory was not a surprise one, as twelve hours before the final episode, judge Prue Leith accidentally tweeted the results.[3][4] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://sophiefaldo.co.uk/ |title=Sophie Faldo }} {{The Great British Bake Off}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Faldo, Sophie}}{{Food-stub}}{{England-tv-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.surreylife.co.uk/people/celebrity-interviews/interview-great-british-bake-off-winner-and-thames-ditton-resident-sophie-faldo-1-5356691 |title=Interview: Great British Bake Off winner and Thames Ditton resident Sophie Faldo |date= 16 January 2018 |work=Surrey Life|first=Rebecca |last=Younger}} 3. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/great-british-bake-off-2017-paul-hollywood-prue-leith-twitter-winner-a8035491.html|title=Paul Hollywood speaks out on Prue Leith’s Great British Bake Off mishap|work=The Independent|access-date=3 August 2018|language=en-GB}} 4. ^{{citeweb|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/great-british-bake-series-verdict-bake-break-channel-4-played/ |title= The Great British Bake Off series verdict: it was bake or break, but Channel 4 played a blinder|date=31 October 2017|work=The Telegraph|accessdate=1 November 2017}} 6 : Living people|The Great British Bake Off winners|Participants in British reality television series|1984 births|Royal Artillery officers|British Army personnel of the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) |
