The Sord Dynasty was a tribal dynasty founded by a Thakor or Jagirdar in Idar State. The Idar was ruled by Parmar Rajput before Sord Dynasty. The last Maharaja of the Idar was Amarsinghji Parmar who took part in the Battle of Tarain with Prithviraj Chauhan against Muslims in the Thanesar, Haryana. In this battle Amarsinghji Parmar was defeated. After that in following year of 1192, The Thakor Hathi Sord established himself at the throne of Idar State and proclaimed the himself ruler and founded the Sord Dynasty. He ruled over Idar peaceful till his death and succeeded by his only son Prince Shamlio Sord.

Disestablishment

After the succession of the Prince Shamalio Sord, he appointed the a Nagar Brahmin as his chief adviser and the Idar was mostly inhabitants by Nagar Brahmins. His chief adviser became loyal to Rathore Rajput chief Sonangji of Shametra and deceived the Sord Family. The chief adviser invited the Maharaja Shamalio Sord for a feast at his home and hided the Rajputs in his neighbouring houses to attack the Maharaja. When the Maharaja Shamalio Sord arrived at his home, he gave a fabulous feast to him and in the last a treat of the wine. When the king and his members were in the full influence of alcohol, he called the hiding Rajputs and attacked and captured the Idar and the Sord Dynasty ended in 1300.^[2]^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6]^[7]^[8]
