SS Sizergh Castle was a British Cargo ship that sprang a leak and foundered in the North Atlantic, while she was travelling from Galveston, Texas, United States to Antwerp, Belgium with a cargo of Wheat.

Construction

Sizergh Castle was constructed in 1903 at the William Pickersgill & Sons Ltd. shipyard in Sunderland, United Kingdom. She was completed in 1903 and she was named Sizergh Castle and served from 1903 until her demise in 1919.

The ship was {{convert|110|m|ftin}} long, with a beam of {{convert|14.1|m|ftin}} and a depth of {{convert|5.4|m|ftin}}. The ship was assessed at {{GRT|3,783}}. She had a Triple expansion steam engine driving a single screw propeller. The engine was rated at 349 nhp.[1]

Sinking

On 7 October 1919, Sizergh Castle was on a voyage from Galveston, Texas, United States, to Antwerp, Belgium, with a cargo of wheat when she sprang a leak and foundered in the North Atlantic ({{coord|45|15|N|44|6|W|display=inline, title}}). There were no casualties.[2]
