}} Standing on the Corner is an American experimental jazz and hip-hop group based in Brooklyn, composed of Gio Escobar and Jasper Marsalis. Standing on the Corner emerged from the New York underground art and music scene and have been referred to as a post-genre group praised for their use and blends of different sounds.[1] HistoryIn 2014, Gio Escobar formed a guitar-based live group called Children of the Corner, in name an homage to Harlem rap collective Children of the Corn. This project later evolved into Standing On The Corner. Escobar wrote several tape machine-recorded songs that he initially never intended to be played out.[2] Escobar brought some demos he was working on to producer Jasper Marsalis, who helped bring them to fruition.[3] Escobar and Marsalis worked to bring those songs to their fullest potential which resulted in the band's 2016 self-titled debut.[2] In 2017, Standing on the Corner released Red Burns, their second album. This release attracted much attention and critical acclaim.{{Citation needed|date=February 2019}} In 2018, they contributed to the song "Ontheway!" by Earl Sweatshirt on his album Some Rap Songs. In 2019, they contributed to Solange's album When I Get Home, with producer credits on the songs "S McGregor (interlude)", "Can I Hold the Mic (interlude)", "Down With the Clique", "Nothing Without Intention (interlude)", and "Exit Scott (interlude)".
