BiographyWray is best known for winning a silver medal in the high jump at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, in which he set a personal best and equalled the Commonwealth record, 2.31 metres. Over the course of the event he bettered his previous career best jump (2.23m) three times, clearing 2.25m and then 2.28m, before drawing level with Canada's Milton Ottey on 2.31m.[1] He only lost out on the gold medal to Ottey on count-back, as the Canadian had made the clearance in his first attempt.[2] At the 1983 World Championships in Athletics, Wray competed in the high jump competition, but couldn't force his way into the final.[3] He also competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics, where he was unable to register a successful jump.[4] On 22 December 2009, both Wray and another fisherman were on a boat which overturned off the coast of Nassau. His body was never recovered.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.athleticsweekly.com/commonwealth-games/commonwealth-games-mens-high-jump-7241|title=Commonwealth Games: Men’s high jump|date=26 July 2014|work=Athletics Weekly|accessdate=7 October 2016}} 2. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article128257315 |title=Brisbane medallists for Canberra |newspaper=The Canberra Times |location=Australian Capital Territory, Australia |date=25 September 1985 |accessdate=7 October 2016 |page=44 |via=National Library of Australia}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.tribune242.com/news/2016/may/26/which-three-high-jumpers-will-represent-bahamas-ol/|title=Which three high jumpers will represent Bahamas at Olympics?|last=Stubbs|first=Brent|date=25 May 2016|work=The Tribune|accessdate=7 October 2016}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/summer/1984/ATH/mens-high-jump.html|title=Athletics at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games: Men's High Jump|publisher=Olympics at Sports-Reference.com|accessdate=7 October 2016}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://sharenews.com/milt-ottey-looks-back-at-a-long-and-rewarding-career/|title=Milt Ottey looks back at a long and rewarding career|date=10 May 2012|work=Share News|accessdate=7 October 2016}} External links
