History and operationsThe school was founded by the Brothers of Christian Instruction in 1966.[2] Its headmaster is Brother Herman Tamale. As of February 2016, 648 students were enrolled and lived at the school.[1] The school is named for Saint John Fisher. In 2015, the school was in the news when 21 of the school's students wound up at the Ibanda Central Police Station for destroying school property. They also slaughtered and ate goats belonging to residents living near the school.[3] Ultimately, the school administration suspended 35 students for their participation in the incidents.[4] Ibanda Secondary School is under the Brothers of Christian Instruction. It is well known in Uganda particularly in western Uganda as a single (boys) school.
