C. Hine and Robert Evans for the fifth Duke of Newcastle.[1] The Foundation stone was laid on 18 October 1861 (St Luke's day) by the Prince of Wales who was staying at Clumber Park with Henry Pelham-Clinton, 5th Duke of Newcastle.[2] The church was dedicated on the same day in 1863[3] by the Bishop of Lincoln, Rt. Revd John Jackson.[4] Originally the church had a spire but this was removed in 1973.[3] OrganThe pipe organ dates from 1896 and was built by Forster and Andrews. A specification of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.[5] BellsThe church tower contains a ring of 6 bells dating from 1863/64. They were cast by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough.[6] References1. ^1 {{NHLE|num=1045052|desc=Church of St Luke, Shireoaks|accessdate=9 September 2016}} {{Commons category|St Luke's Church, Shireoaks}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Shireoaks}}{{england-church-stub}}2. ^{{cite news |author= |title=The Prince of Wales at Clumber |url=http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0001895/18611019/042/0003 |newspaper=Nottingham Journal |location=England |date=19 October 1861 |access-date=1 April 2017 |via=British Newspaper Archive |subscription=yes }} 3. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/shireoaks/hhistory.php|title=Church of St Luke, Shireoaks|publisher=Southwell and Nottingham Church History Project|accessdate=9 September 2016}} 4. ^{{cite news |author= |title=St Luke’s Church, Shireoaks near Worksop |url=http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000237/18631023/001/0003 |newspaper=Stamford Mercury |location=England |date=23 October 1863 |access-date=1 April 2017 |via=British Newspaper Archive |subscription=yes }} 5. ^{{National Pipe Organ Register|id=R01360 |access-date=1 April 2017}} 6. ^{{cite web |url=http://dove.cccbr.org.uk/detail.php?searchString=shireoaks&Submit=+Go+&DoveID=SHIREOAKS |title=Shireoaks, Notts S Luke |author= |date=9 October 2006 |website=Dove's Guide for Church Bell Ringers |publisher=Dovemaster |access-date=1 April 2017 |quote=}} 3 : Church of England church buildings in Nottinghamshire|Grade II listed churches in Nottinghamshire|Thomas Chambers Hine buildings |
