Influential in tribal politics because they could raise a force of some 500 fighting men,[1] the Bedouin Tunaij used Dhaid as a centre and a fortified tower protected the 70-odd Tunaij houses there (the Na'im maintained a similar arrangement at Dhaid). The Tunaij have been linked to the Bani Qitab.[5] The Tunaij of Rams were mostly involved in pearl fishing and, during the pearling season, both Bedouin Tunaij and Shihuh would come to the coast to work as seasonal labour.[6] References1. ^1 {{Cite book|url=https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/64689681|title=From Trucial States to United Arab Emirates : a society in transition|last=1941-|first=Heard-Bey, Frauke,|date=2005|publisher=Motivate|year=|isbn=1860631673|location=London|pages=75|oclc=64689681}} {{Arab tribes in the United Arab Emirates}}{{UAE-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|title=United Arab Emirates Land Ownership and Agriculture Laws Handbook|year=2015|publisher=International Business Publications|isbn=1438760191|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Ss1I9tRnO74C&pg=PA131&lpg=PA131|page=}} 3. ^{{cite book|title=The Trucial States|year=1970|author= Donald Hawley|isbn=0049530054|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=OnhCBuXmeWYC&pg=PA294|page=294}} 4. ^{{Cite book|title=Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf|last=Lorimer|first=John|publisher=British Government, Bombay|year=1915|isbn=|location=|pages=1858}} 5. ^{{cite book|title=Honour is in Contentment: Life Before Oil in Ras Al-Khaimah (UAE)|year=2011|authors= William Lancaster, Fidelity Lancaster|isbn=3110223392|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Le0Ryxzh7cQC&pg=PA14|page=14}} 6. ^{{Cite book|url=https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/64689681|title=From Trucial States to United Arab Emirates : a society in transition|last=1941-|first=Heard-Bey, Frauke,|date=2005|publisher=Motivate|year=|isbn=1860631673|location=London|pages=459|oclc=64689681}} 5 : Tribes of the United Arab Emirates|Tribes of Saudi Arabia|Arab groups|Arabic-language surnames|History of the United Arab Emirates |
