Pedro Sánchez formed the Sánchez government on 7 June 2018 as a result of the success of a motion of no confidence against Mariano Rajoy on 1 June.

Sánchez government (2018–present)

The Sánchez government is the incumbent government of Spain since 7 June 2018, a total of {{age in days|7 Jun 2018}} days. Sánchez was elected Prime Minister by the Congress of Deputies on 1 June and was sworn into office on 2 June. Sánchez's cabinet was composed mainly by members of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and its sister party, the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC), as well as a number of independents. It succeeded the second Rajoy government.

Changes

  • On 13 June 2018, Màxim Huerta stepped down as Minister of Culture and Sport after it was revealed that he had been sanctioned for using a shell corporation as a means for tax avoidance between 2006 and 2008.[1][2][3] He was succeeded by José Guirao.[4]
  • On 11 September 2018, Carmen Montón announced her resignation as Minister of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare after evidence was uncovered that she had obtained a Master's degree from the King Juan Carlos University without attending most classes, amid other irregularities.[5][6][7] She was succeeded by María Luisa Carcedo.[8]

Composition

The Council of Ministers was structured into the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, 17 ministries and the post of Spokesperson of the Government.[9][10]
