It also features a caldera {{convert|11|x|12|km}} wide,[1] with a gap on its northern side.[3] It was active in the Miocene,{{sfn|Deniel|Vincent|Beauvilain|Gourgaud|2015|p=1}} developing over older ignimbrites with tholeiitic rocks. Later, felsic volcanic rocks were emplaced within the caldera and the Voon ignimbrite buried parts of the tholeiite.{{sfn|Deniel|Vincent|Beauvilain|Gourgaud|2015|p=13}} References1. ^1 2 {{cite journal|last1=Permenter|first1=JasonL.|last2=Oppenheimer|first2=Clive|title=Volcanoes of the Tibesti massif (Chad, northern Africa)|journal=Bulletin of Volcanology|date=1 April 2007|volume=69|issue=6|page=615|doi=10.1007/s00445-006-0098-x|language=English|issn=0258-8900}} [1][2]2. ^1 2 {{cite journal|last1=Grove|first1=A.
