Badar is an American entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist. Taseer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer[1] of ZT Corporate, Inc., as well as many other Altus Health and ZT Corporate entities. Taseer’s companies have earned more than 30 awards, including consecutive Texas A&M "Aggie 100" awards (2007–2017), Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2012)[2] ,Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner (2016).[3] and The South Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) Businessperson of the Year Award (2018).[4] Early life and educationThe youngest of four siblings, Taseer Badar was born October 1, 1973 in Lahore, Pakistan, where he spent the first 10 months of his life before immigrating to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. His mother, Kausar, and father, Tanwir, were a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Professor in Chemistry at VA Medical Center in her native home in Pakistan and Professional Engineer (PE) in Chemical and Associate Professor at King’s College London in Strand, London, respectively.[5] In high school, he began a lawn mowing business. Later, at Texas A&M University, where he would earn his Bachelors of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship & Finance from the Mays School of Business, he ran a toner company that shipped to clients.[6] Early careerIn 1996, Taseer began his financial advisor career with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. in New York City, where he built strong relationships with his clients thanks to his passion and zeal for helping others reach and surpass their goals. But he quickly realized that he “didn’t want CNBC to dictate [his] life,”[7] so he returned to Houston and began a retail brokerage firm and began working with physicians who needed help investing their money. ZT Corporate to presentIn 2001, an investor presented Taseer with an opportunity: new MRI technology. After some advice from his sister Dr. Tehmina Badar, a pulmonologist ; brother-in-law Dr. Shahin Shirzadi, a neurologist; and his best friend Dr. Raza Pasha, an ENT surgeon. Thus began Altus Health. In 2014, sensing an opportunity to expand outside of healthcare, Taseer ventured into Florida and purchased several dealerships, including a Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Kia, and Mazda.[8] This collection would soon become ZT Motors, alongside President Garrick Hatfield, the former General Manager for Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz. Seeing further opportunities, he soon diversified into quick service restaurants (ZT Restaurants) and sports management (ZT Sports). Since 2008, the company has grown from $28M in portfolio revenues to more than $600 million in 2016. Philanthropy and Community InvolvementIn 2017, Taseer and ZT Corporate partnered with the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) to develop proactive healthcare to impoverished communities throughout the world through telemedicine initiatives and boots-on-the-ground programs. In addition, as part of Taseer’s commitment to building talent, ZT Corporate and APPNA provide educational opportunities to Pakistani students with untapped potential in the form of financial aid and housing, as well as competitive internships at ZT Corporate in the United States. “The APPNA organization has always been a shining star for [ZT Corporate],” Badar said. “It is probably one of the largest organizations within the physician community, and us being in healthcare and with a strong South Asian background, partnering with them is a big honor.”[9] Taseer and his companies have also partnered in various capacities with organizations like Developments In Literacy (DIL), which provides educational opportunities to under-served students in Pakistan. In 2017, DIL thanked Taseer[10] for his role in helping underprivileged children in Pakistan receive educational opportunities that would otherwise be out of their reach. In Houston, Taseer supports The Rose, a Houston-based organization focused on breast cancer awareness and treatment. His affinity for sports has led to exciting opportunities with athletes and their respective foundations, including the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy Foundation, the Miguel and Vanessa Montero Foundation, and the Brandon Marshall Foundation, NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s non-profit organization promoting mental health awareness. Currently, Taseer is also involved in projects benefiting the community and education of others. Since 2017, Taseer has served on the Southwest Regional National Board of Trustees for the Boys and Girls Club of America. As of 2019, Taseer also serves under the Dean’s Advisory Board at Texas A&M Mays School of Business.
