The Tasmanian Environment Centre was an environment centre in Hobart in Tasmania between 1970s and 2000s. The centre began on 7 December 1972, at the 281 Elizabeth Street North Hobart address until January 1975, when it moved to 102 Bathurst Street, in January 1975. [1] It was the location of bushwalking and environmental group events and resources. [2] The centre published about local Hobart features. [3] The centre was also involved in producing material for educational curricula material. [4][5] The Bathurst Street location was where the formal event founding occurred of the Tasmanian Wilderness Society in August 1976, the last formal meeting of the South West Tasmanian Action Committee had been conducted at Bob Browns property in Liffey earlier.
