}} The Blue Mountains School, Ooty was founded in 1962 by Frederick Gordon Pearce, a renowned educationist and pioneer of the Indian Public School Movement. The school was nurtured and its philosophy of creative education further developed by well-known educationists David Horsburgh, J.P. Gunawardane and Sardar Mohammed Malik. The school is located on a 5-acre campus on the southeastern slopes facing the Ooty valley. It is a residential co-educational English medium school affiliated with the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). It admits students in grade 1. The teacher student ratio is 1:10.
