The first season was released on Netflix on November 20, 2018.[1] The series features twelve professional teams of two competing against each other by creating cuisine based on each episode's country theme.[2] The first round of cooking is based on the judges (one food critic and two culturally significant citizens of the episode's country) asking the contestants to cook a nationally significant dish. The bottom three dishes cause their cooks to compete in a second round, named The Final Plate Challenge, using a specific ingredient relevant to the country's culture, chosen by a renowned guest chef.[3] ChefsEach chef was paired with a fellow chef that they knew from their personal or professional life before the event.
