PremiseThe Plot Against America imagines "an alternate American history told through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in New Jersey, as they watch the political rise of Charles Lindbergh, an aviator-hero and xenophobic populist, who becomes president and turns the nation toward fascism."[1]ProductionOn November 8, 2018, it was announced that HBO had given a series order consisting of six episodes to a television miniseries adaptation of Philip Roth's novel The Plot Against America. David Simon and Ed Burns were expected to write the series in addition to executive producing alongside Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, Nina Noble, Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, Susan Goldberg, and Roth. Dennis Stratton was also set to serve as a co-executive producer.
