An anime television series adaptation by Tezuka Productions aired from January 10 to March 28, 2019 on TBS and other channels. The anime series is licensed in North America under Crunchyroll-Funimation partnership.[3][2] Plot{{See also|List of The Quintessential Quintuplets characters}}Japanese high school student Futaro Uesugi has achieved excellent grades but leads a difficult life otherwise: no mother, no friends, and a father struggling with large debts while Futaro and his younger sister Raiha often go hungry. An opportunity presents itself when the rich Nakano family arrives in his school and Futaro is hired as a highly-paid tutor, but he discovers his five charges — charming identical quintuplet sisters of varied personalities — have in common zero interest in study and abysmal grades. Some of the quintuplets are against having an unknown male in their apartment, but Futaro's diligent tenacity gradually convinces those girls to reduce their attempts to have him poisoned or arrested, and to advance in their studies. Moreover, through a flashforward, it turns out that Futaro will marry one of the sisters, but during his tutoring, all five of them fall in love with him. So, who will ever be his bride? There's nothing revolutionary about it, but it does a lot of basic things well without showing any major flaws, and that's enough to make this premiere good clean (well, clean-ish) fun."[1] Kyle Rogacion of Goomba Stomp praised the plot of the anime, but criticized its art style and fanservice gags.[14] The series scored a 4.3 out of 5 stars in Crunchyroll for its multi-elements.[15]Meanwhile, the manga series has 2 million volumes in print as of January 2019.[16] By February 2019, the manga series has 3 million volumes in print.[17] Awards and nominationsThe series was nominated for {{nihongo|"Next Manga Award 2018"|次にくるマンガ大賞 2018|Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishou}} organized by Niconico.
