T.K.V. Rajan,[1] a well- known archaeologist and media personality is the Founder - Director of Indian Science Monitor and Indo-Asian Foundation of Archaeological Research. The Foundation conducts expeditions, seminars and interactions with archaeologists from different Asian countries to strengthen age-old cultural ties among Asian countries.[2][3] While he was studying post graduate in ancient history and archeology at the University of Madras and later working as a journalist, Rajan lectured on Indian archeology and organized exhibitions at the British Council and Max Muller Bhavan, Lalith Kala Academy, Chennai.[4]

Archaeologist

As an Archaeologist, Rajan has been concerned about the impact of science and technology on the traditional Indian society. Rajan has also presented "Our Buried Past", a documentary serial for Madras Doordarshan. Recently, his audio-visual exhibitions presented for the concerned public have created an impressive impact on the viewers. His exhibition on "Ancient Tamil civilization in Sri Lanka",[5][6][7] brought out a message why India and Sri Lanka should come together beyond political boundaries for conserving the age old link. Reviews about this exhibition appeared favourably both in India and Sri Lanka. He unveiled "Christ and Krishna", a curious archaeological presentation in Chennai[8] and at Ramakrishna Vedanta Society, Irvine, Texas, which explored the recent archaeological research of these Great Gods whose teaching run parallel in many aspects. His archaeological exhibition and power point presentation on "In Search of Krishna"[9][10] presented in Bangalore, Mayapur, New Delhi, Chennai, Coimbatore and Dallas USA received appreciations.

Founder-Director

As the founder-Director of Indian Science Monitor, Rajan took interest in science behind the popular game cricket. He conceptualized a novel exhibition " Great cricket controversies and science behind it " at Russian Center for Science and Culture in 2011 in Chennai. It had attracted a huge cricket fans. The Time of India reviewed the exhibition and interviewed Rajan ." There is not enough research in the field of cricket in India. Countries like England and West Indies conduct a lot of research on various scientific factors affecting batting, spin of the ball and pitch conditions. Cricket, in India, is no longer a just game. Cricket generates Rs 2400 crore revenue every year, but our scientists and professors don't find time to research cricket ". (Quoting from the interview).[11]

The impact of Television programmes on the society always fascinates Rajan. As the founder-director of Indian Science Monitor, he conceptualized and organized a Gallup poll on "A study of the portrayal of women characters in popular TV serials". The poll claimed that women are negative stereotypes in most programmes and warned that this trend could unleash sociological havoc in the long run. The result of this poll was published in leading news papers and it is still being discussed in the social media.[12]

Research

Presently, doing extensive research on history and antiquity of Kashmir and his video presentation on "Save Kashmir for Humanity" in YouTube, Google and his 30 TV serial episodes "Kashmir the Crown of India" and "In Search of Sharada Civilization" telecast in Sri Sankara TV, brought thousands of viewers, appreciating his intention to safe guard Kashmir for its continuous impact on the history of India for the past 5000 years. Kashmir has been the seat of Indian leaning and culture for the past 3000 years. To inculcate the invaluable contribution of Kashmir to the student community, T.K.V. Rajan wrote a book entitled "Incredible Kashmir" which was released by the Governor of Tamil Nadu Sri. Banwarilal Purohit in Chennai.[13][14] Post graduate in Archaeology and learnt Anthropology under Professor Polin Kolanda from the University of Houston while she was in India. Rajan has also initiated a project on " In search of sunken cities of Sangam ( Tamil Age ) " and his documentation to emphasis the immediate need of marine archaeological investigation under the Indian Ocean in well received by the press.[15]

Video

While Rajan was in USA, he released a video "Hollywood Nostalgia-Impact of Hollywood movies on the traditional Indian Movie goers" in Glasgow, Kentucky and he was honoured for his scientific presentations on Archaeology of India, in Dallas, USA.[16]

Author

T. K. V. Rajan is the author of 5 books, including, "In Search of Lord Krishna - Archaeological Journey[17][18][19]", "From Kanchi to Cambodia - Greater India revisited". He worked as a producer for Sun TV and produced several documentaries (history of CRPF-won an award). He conceptualized and anchored a very popular serial "Cinema Quiz" for 117 weeks with academic standard. Later, he joined as the Chief Producer for Raj TV Network and he was instrumental in introducing several Live programmes, including a quiz on Science & Technology. Rajan has won several awards.
