[4] BiographyTolani was born into a christian Nigerian home and is the last of 3 children.[5] In his early days Tolani says he spent his time listening to a lot of artistes like Boney M, Fela, 50 cent as a result of his father and brother always playing their music.[6]He started out as a rapper at the age of 13 and was part of a three-man group called Mboiz while he was still in high school. The group disbanded in 2011 when he went to Babcock university to study economics.[7] As an under graduate, he kept releasing music and honing his skills as an artist and performer.[8] CareerAfter graduating with a bachelors degree in Economics from Babcock university in 2015, he released two songs; "the world" and the second a cover to the popular U.k hit single "dont waste my time" by krept and konan .[9]The songs showed the direction in which his sound was headed, and were released free in August 2015.[10] He followed this up in december 2015, with the release of a grimy afrobeat track he titled "Ajigijaga". [11] After a one year break, he returned with his first official single; No Yawa which earned him a top 5 spot at the 2017 Abbey Road Studios' Battle of the Bands Competition.[4][12] References1. ^{{Cite news|url=http://punchng.com/i-vote-for-original-afrobeat-tolani/|title=I vote for original afrobeat – Tolani|work=Punch Newspapers|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=http://thenativemag.com/music/listen-tolani-naijas-neo-afrobeat-wave-no-yawa/|title=Tolani shuns Naija's Neo-afrobeats wave for the real thing on "No Yawa" - The Native|date=2017-05-08|work=The Native|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.abbeyroad.com/news/vote-now-for-your-battle-of-the-bands-winner-2227|title=Abbey Road Studios|website=www.abbeyroad.com|access-date=2018-01-07}} 4. ^1 {{Cite news|url=https://www.metro.news/metro-and-abbey-road-studios-battle-of-the-bands-time-to-vote/686877/|title=Metro and Abbey Road Studios’ Battle of the Bands: Time to vote|work=Metro Newspaper UK|access-date=2018-01-07}} 5. ^{{Cite web|url=http://sunnewsonline.com/with-no-yawa-tolani-sings-for-youths/|title=With No Yawa, Tolani sings for youths {{!}} The Sun News|website=sunnewsonline.com|language=en-US|access-date=2018-01-07}} 6. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.newsheadlines.com.ng/leadership-newspapers/2015/10/28/fatilewa-the-birth-of-trap-fro-star/|title=Fatilewa: The Birth Of Trap Fro Star|date=2015-10-28|work=Nigerian News Headlines Today {{!}} Breaking Newspapers News|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.theseunbadejo.com/meet-tolani/|title=Meet Tolani {{!}} THESEUNBADEJO.COM|date=2017-11-29|work=TheSeunBadejo.com|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=http://campusheathq.com/pictures-nbwds-list-of-the-leading-student-artistes-in-babcock-university-2014/|title=PICTURES: NBWD’s List of The Leading Student Artistes in Babcock University 2014|date=2014-10-03|work=Campus Heat Nigeria|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.akpraise.com.ng/music-alert-tolani-the-world-i-had-to-krept-konan-cover/|title=MUSIC ALERT: Tolani – The World + I Had To (Krept & Konan Cover) {{!}} Akpraise.com|website=www.akpraise.com.ng|language=en-US|access-date=2018-01-07}} 10. ^{{Cite news|url=https://notjustok.com/download-mp3/tolani-the-world-i-had-to-cover/|title=Tolani - The World {{!}} I Had To (Cover) - Latest Naija Nigerian Music, Songs & Video|date=2015-08-25|work=Latest Naija Nigerian Music, Songs & Video|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=http://jaguda.com/music-mp3/new-music-tolani-ajigijaga/|title=New Music: Tolani - Ajigijaga {{!}} Jaguda.com|website=jaguda.com|language=en-US|access-date=2018-01-07}} 12. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/music/music-tolani-no-yawa-id6660015.html|title=Music: Tolani - "No yawa"|last=Solanke|first=Abiola|access-date=2018-01-07|language=en-US}} Further reading
