The Andaman serpent eagle (Spilornis elgini) is a species of bird of prey in the family Accipitridae.

It is endemic to the Andaman Islands in southeast India.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical mangrove forest.

It is threatened by habitat loss. The Andaman Serpent Eagle prefers areas of scattered trees.

Appearance

Foot to head the Andaman Serpent Eagle is 51-59cm. The juveniles are almost the same as adults in appearance. Its crown is a dark brown, the throat of it is a pale brown.

This eagle has brown ear-coverts. One unique feature of is white specks on the raptors wings.
