According to an interview with vocalist Ian Nichols, the album title was derived from a common video game warning message where the players quit the game without saving.[1] Composition and influencesThe album's style has been described as alternative rock and hard rock,[2] with comparisons made to Fall Out Boy and Queens of the Stone Age.[3][4] The Police and He is Legend have been specifically mentioned as an inspiration by Nichols.[5] Shortly after the release of Unsaved Progress, Double Experience released a formal cover of Buddy Holly (song). Tinsley stated that Weezer "proved that rock and roll doesn't have to act or sound a specific way. That's the essence of our band."[6] Double Experience also drew inspiration from video games. In an interview with 92.1 Rock, Tinsley inadvertently credited Mick Gordon as an inspiration for Double Experience, praising the Doom soundtrack due to it's uniqueness compared normal video game soundtracks.[7] Track listing{{Track listing| title1 = So Fine | length1 = 3:19 | title2 = AAA | length2 = 3:17 | title3 = The Glimmer Shot | length3 = 3:23 | title4 = See You Soon | length4 = 2:57 | title5 = Impasse | length5 = 3:44 | title6 = Exposure Exposure | length6 = 2:54 | title7 = Death of Lucidity | length7 = 3:17 | title8 = Godzilla |note8 = Blue Öyster Cult cover | length8 = 3:57 | title9 = Weakened Warriors | length9 = 3:33 | total_length = 30:21 }} Miscellaneous

Calum Slingerland of Exclaim! noted that Double Experience "check[s] all the boxes of a modern-rock smash".[11] David Navarro of Slicker Magazine praised the album, labeling the music as a mix of "Fall Out Boy, Queens of the Stone Age and even a little Coheed and Cambria, all while still maintaining an aesthetic that feels wholly unique perhaps entirely due to their lyrical subject matter."[12] Alberto Centenari of Italy's Metal Eyes Magazine rated the album an 8/10, deeming the album as "a collection of hits" and specifically commended "...the good guitar performance of Tinsley, a melodic war machine in solos and a [powerhouse] in hard rock riffs."[13] Critique de Salon reviewer Olivier Dénommée rated the album 7.5/10 as felt that the album's style was "well put-together" and "would please nerds who want to rock... even if the band will never write something as epic as actual video game music".[14] Unsaved Progress reached #6 on the National Loud Chart in Canada.[15]References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.loveispop.com/interviews/an-exclusive-interview-with-double-experience/|title=An exclusive interview with Double Experience}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.shoutitloudreviews.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=1670:double-experience-unsaved-progress-album-review&Itemid=269|title=Double Experience Unsaved Progress Album Review}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.overdrive.ie/double-experience-release-glimmer-shot-destiny-rock-song-video/|title=Double Experience Release Glimmer Shot Destiny Rock Song}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.loveispop.com/reviews/albumoftheday-review-double-experience-unsaved-progress/|title=Album of the Day - Review Double Experience Unsaved Progress}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://sickanddestroy.info/2016/09/24/interview-double-experience/|title=Interview Double Experience}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=https://puregrainaudio.com/videos/double-experience-release-music-video-for-weezer-s-buddy-holly|title=Double Experience Release Music Video for Weezer's Buddy Holly}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.921rock.ca/2016/10/02/going-off-beaten-path-radar-double-experience/|title= Going Off The Beaten Path Under The Radar with Double Experience|last=Daly |first=Ryan||date=October 2, 2016}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://exclaim.ca/music/article/double_experience-so_fine|title=Double Experience – So Fine}} 9. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/44672/7_This-Week-at-Bungie--04212016|title=This Week at Bungie – 04/21/2016}} 10. ^{{cite web|url=http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3423242/exclusive-watch-music-video-premiere-double-experiences-godzilla/|title=Watch the Music Video Premiere for Double Experience’s "Godzilla"}} 11. ^{{cite web|url=http://exclaim.ca/music/article/double_experience-so_fine|title=Double Experience – So Fine}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.slickstermagazine.com/double-experience/|title=Double Experience’s Unsaved Progress Is Seriously Unserious Nerd Rock}} 13. ^{{cite web|url=https://metaleyes.iyezine.com/double-experience-unsaved-progress/|title=Double Experience - Unsaved Progress}} 14. ^{{cite web|url=https://critiquedesalon.wordpress.com/2016/04/09/unsaved-progress-double-experience/#more-5846|title=Unsaved Progress – Double Experience}} 15. ^{{cite web|url=https://music-ontario.ca/news/recent-news/read,article/17658/musicontario-reeperbahn-2018-lineup-announced|title=MusicOntario @ Reeperbahn 2018: Lineup Announced}} 2 : 2016 albums|Double Experience albums |
