Shiva was previously VP of Engineering and a Distinguished Entrepreneur at Google (2001-2010), who helped build Adsense, Search Appliances and Cloud Apps, and Balaji is a Stanford professor and director of the Stanford Center for Societal Networks, a prominent research initiative to make societal networks smarter, more scalable and more efficient.[7] Urban Engines has raised an undisclosed amount of money led by Google Ventures. Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel, Greylock, Samsung Ventures, early Google investor Ram Shriram and Google Chairman Eric Schmidt also participated.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|title=CrunchBase|url=https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/urban-engines#/entity|publisher=CrunchBase|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|title=Computerworld|url=http://www.computerworld.com/article/2882732/urban-engines-using-data-to-power-a-better-commute.html|publisher=Computerworld|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|title=The New York Times|url=http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/02/10/a-new-mobile-map-captures-internet-of-moving-things/|publisher=The New York Times|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 4. ^1 {{cite web|title=Jacksonville Business Journal|url=http://www.bizjournals.com/jacksonville/news/2015/06/10/new-transit-app-has-goals-even-bigger-than-helping.html|publisher=Jacksonville Business Journal|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 5. ^1 {{cite web|title=Recode|url=http://recode.net/2014/05/15/google-backed-startup-develops-mobile-games-to-ease-urban-congestion/|publisher=Vox Media|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 6. ^1 {{cite web|title=TechCrunch|url=https://techcrunch.com/2015/06/09/urban-engines-wants-to-help-you-leverage-all-forms-of-transit/#.jgndsu:C80R|publisher=TechCrunch|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=TechCrunch|url=https://techcrunch.com/2014/05/15/backed-by-google-ventures-and-eric-schmidt-urban-engines-wants-to-solve-urban-congestion-using-data-intelligence/|publisher=TechCrunch|accessdate=10 December 2015}} 1 : Computer companies |
