In that same year, she was part of the reporting team for the series "Code Red", an investigative series on the ambulance industry in Alberta,[9][10] which drew on revealing interviews with paramedics and other sources and an in-studio interview with Alberta Minister of Health Fred Horne[9] to reveal an under-resourced industry that was endangering Alberta residents.[10] The series forced the provincial government to initiate a review of the system as a whole, and won the 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Series in the international category.[11][9][10] She transferred to the Ottawa bureau in 2013, becoming bureau chief in 2016 and host of The West Block in 2017 following the retirement of Tom Clark.[12] In February 2018, she left Global to join CBC News Network as the new host of Power & Politics.[12] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BifycwkDpAx/|title=Vassy Kapelos (@vassykapelos) • Instagram photos and videos|date=May 7, 2018|accessdate=January 13, 2019}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Kapelos, Vassy}}{{Canada-journalist-stub}}2. ^[https://cdn.dal.ca/content/dam/dalhousie/pdf/politicalscience/polinews06.pdf] 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.cbc.ca/radio/podcasts/current-affairs-information/power-politics/|title=Power & Politics|work=CBC/Radio-Canada|accessdate=February 23, 2019}} 4. ^[https://nationalpost.com/pmn/entertainment-pmn/vassy-kapelos-to-host-cbcs-power-and-politics "Vassy Kapelos to host CBC's 'Power and Politics'"].
