J. Medical College, Pune (1992) and MS in general surgery from Government Medical College, Patiala (1998). He also obtained an MRCS, Edinburgh.[9] Medical careerVij started his medical career as a senior registrar (general surgery) at Fortis Hospital, Chandigarh, in November 2001 and continued till May 2003.[10] He later worked as a senior registrar (surgical gastroenterology and liver transplantation) at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi from June 2003 to May 2006.[11] In September 2006, Vivek started working as a consultant (liver transplant and surgical gastroenterology) at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi.[12] In 2011, he joined Fortis Group of Hospitals as a program director at Department of Liver Transplant and Surgical Gastroenterology till date.[13][14][15] He was the youngest liver transplant surgeon to complete 500 transplants as director of Fortis Group of Hospital.[16] As a gastrosurgeon, Vij has interest in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries and also has publications in the field.[17][18][19] He runs a fellowship program for training young surgeons and paramedical staff at Fortis.[16] He is a member of International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS), Chicago, esteemed Member of International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA) and member of Indian Society Of Organ Transplantation (ISOT).[10] Awards and honors
