He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from National Institute of Education Samtse.[5][6] CareerProfessional careerNamgyel started his professional career 27 years ago. He was a former headmaster of four high schools and also served as the chief of school monitoring in the education ministry.[6][5] Political careerNamgyel is a member of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT).[1] He was elected to the National Assembly of Bhutan as a candidate of DNT from Nyishog-Saephu constituency in the Bhutanese National Assembly election, 2018.[7] He received 4,388 votes and defeated Chimmi Jamtsho, a candidate of DPT.[8] On 30 October 2018, he was nominated by DNT for the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan.[9] On 31 October 2018, he was elected as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan.
