释义 |
Founded in 1937, the Wei-Chuan Group started out as Watai Yoko, an exporter and importer. Watai Yoko became Hotai Motors in 1945 and expanded to include Hotai Chemicals in 1947. In 1948 Hotai Chemicals became Wei-Chuan and became a manufacturer of Chinese foods. By 1972 Wei-Chuan crossed over to the United States to set up their first US division in Bell Gardens. Its products are similar to its parent company, Wei-Chuan Food Corporation.[1] Wei-Chuan USA's corporate logo includes five red circles which represent the five basic flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. Wei-Chuan USA now employs more than 500 workers, operates two manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles and Tennessee, and six distribution centers located in Jersey City, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, City of Commerce, and Houston. In 1998, the Wei-Chuan USA division split from its parent company creating a Wei-Chuan China division and a Wei-Chuan USA division, now operating separately from one another.
