She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (United Kingdom) ^[2]and a Fellow of the New Zealand Geographical Society; and has been a visiting fellow at universities in Germany, the United States and the United Kingdom. She was awarded the Victoria Medal in 2018 by the Royal Geographical Society. ^[3] In 2018, Professor Larner was awarded the Innovation and Science award of the Women of Influence awards.^[4]

Wendy Larner was previously Professor of Human Geography and Sociology at the University of Bristol.^[5]
